The stenciled decoration found in the Lannie Hurst Parlour was created by Sara H. Hopkins, who calls herself a “restoration stenciler.” The ceiling is done in basic 1880′s style with gilded stars, bronze powders and stenciled motifs. The design was based on photographs found at the Oregon Historical Society Library.
The parlour is dedicated to Lannie Hurst who, along with many other preservationists, fought to save The Historic Old Church from the wrecking ball in 1968.
